Aker Solutions is one of five contractors to be awarded a three year framework agreement by Eskom, to deliver a full range of nuclear engineering design packages at the Koeberg Nuclear Power Station.  

"Aker Solutions' proven capability in providing services to the commercial nuclear industry spans some 45 years, and this was a major factor in our winning this landmark contract," said Andy Leigh, associate director, Aker Solutions.

It is the first significant contract awarded to Aker Solutions following the recent opening of an office in Johannesburg.  The work will be executed from the company's Stockton-on-Tees operation in the UK.

Kevin Jones, Aker Solutions' regional manager in South Africa, commented, "We look forward to coupling our project management capability with our extensive technological, engineering and safety expertise for a variety of infrastructure and asset improvement projects which will enhance the safe operations of Eskom's facilities."

Koeberg Nuclear Power Station, has been operational since 1984.  It has twin 900 MWe pressurised water reactors (PWR).
