FRANCHISING: Growing Your Franchise

Recent Western Cape Business News

The annual 2014 FNB Franchise Leadership Summit will play host to franchisors, franchisees and Industry role-players who together will find innovative ways of integrating business efforts that will ensure a greater diversification in the business sector.

Taking place in both Johannesburg and Cape Town the summit will encapsulate a growing trend of franchising not only in South Africa but in the rest of the continent. Morne Cronje, FNB Head of Franchising explains that “Franchising is an evolving industry that taps into every market and contributes to the South African and African economy. We find that the calibre of South African franchise brands establishing themselves in the rest of Africa is growing at an alarming rate. With this growing trend we need to find workable solutions that will help grow our brands both on a local and global level.”

Themed ‘Growing your business’ the summit hopes to capitalise on innovative ideas, solutions and create dialogue that will ensure the success and sustainability of the franchise industry. Key speakers at this year’s summit will include FNB Chief Economist, Sizwe Nxedlana, Spur Groups - Pierre von Tonder, Imbalie Beauty Esna Coleyn, Ben Filmalter, entrepreneur - Connie Mashaba and Dr Francois Bonnici, Bertha Centre, UCT School of Business to mention a few.

The summit will provide a unique platform where franchisors and industry stakeholders can learn, network, engage and find innovative ways to grow and maintain their business. Efficiency and the advent of new technology has helped build the business landscape.

“Today, innovation with the help of technology has helped add value business processes. FNB’s electronic business banking platform provides evidence of the ease, and effectiveness with which technology can be harnessed to add significant value to small and medium business banking clients,” explains Cronje.

South Africa has harnessed the power of emerging technologies to foster economic growth, which ultimately has helped them remain competitive in today's world. “The viability of the business sector continues to be questioned. But if we work together and look for tools and solutions that will help us maintain the sector we can surely see the business industry thriving and succeeding. With many new franchise concepts and brands entering South Africa, we need to be sure that we have the capacity as well as finance to support these ventures,” concludes Cronje.

The FNB Franchise Leadership Summit will take place on 19th of November at Portside, Cape Town.
