BUILDING: Building Skills In Partnership

Recent Western Cape Business News

Recently the Master Builders Association of the Western Cape (MBAWC) and Construction Sector Education and Training Authority (CETA) met to address and resolve issues between the two bodies.

Earlier this year the MBAWC publicly expressed its dissatisfaction with CETA. However, both parties have agreed to work together to improve the provision of skills development and training in the building industry. CETA acknowledges that it could better this and understands what may have triggered the MBAWC’s previous statements that the MBA concedes could have led to misunderstandings, which led to its expression of dissatisfaction.

MBAWC Executive Director, Rob Johnson, says, “We are pleased to have had the opportunity to come together with CETA, settle any misunderstandings and establish a way forward for us to work in partnership. Both CETA and the MBAWC are strongly committed to the development of our country’s people and in turn, the building industry and South African economy.”

CETA Administrator, Themba Mhambi, states, “We are working hard to equip the CETA both technically and morally to serve the construction sector and the people of South Africa more effectively and honestly. We look forward to achieving our objectives with the cooperation and the support of MBAWC so that the construction sector may reclaim its erstwhile place as a major contributor to job creation and economic development in our country.”
