HOSPITALITY: Fish Hoek is Getting Posh

Recent Western Cape Business News

THE new Calders luxury hotel and conference centre adjacent to Fish Hoek beach has opened following the acquisition by Zevenwacht Properties of the landmark Calders King building.

The hotel and conference centre is a pivotal part of the redevelopment of the once sleepy seaside town which is currently enjoying a revival with investment by property developers and major retailers in the main street.

Utilising the existing sound structure of the well known building has acquired a modern appearance following a comprehensive refurbishment programme completed over a two year period to create top quality facilities for both business guests and tourists in an exclusive seaside boutique hotel in keeping with the prime position between mountains and sea.

General Manager, Martine van den Heever, a well known Cape Town hotelier, says the hotel’s position at the entrance to Fish Hoek’s famous beach lent itself to a development of the highest standard.” The hotel offers a stylish yet relaxed feel with views of False Bay and the Atlantic Ocean . Our central position is convenient to Fish Hoek’s town centre and across the road from one of Cape Town’s most famous beaches”

The hotel has a total of 26 well equipped rooms designed to meet the demands of the most discerning guest. Conference facilities are equipped with the latest technology to meet the demands of businessmen and local and international travellers.

“We will fill a gap in the market for both the holiday and business sectors while stimulating growth in an area which has been stagnant for some time,” says Martine van den Heever. “It will have a positive spin-off on the town and surroundings as it will create new job opportunities as well as opportunities for local business. Most of our food and beverage requirements will be outsourced to local service providers and wherever possible we will use local companies for provision of services and daily operating needs. In fact the décor is enhanced with paintings by leading local artists.”

Zevenwacht Properties has been responsible for other major hospitality projects on the peninsula including the Quayside Waterfront in Simon’s Town and more recently the launch of the Zevenwacht Lifestyle Estate on Zevenwacht Wine Farm on the Stellenbosch Wine Route.
