WATER MANAGEMENT: Water Treatment At Its Best
Recent Western Cape Business News
MALUTSA, the Cape Town-based BEE associate of leading water treatment company, VWS Envig, has been awarded a contract to supply a reverse osmosis plant to the Vanwyksvlei community.
The contract, awarded by the Kareeberg Municipality, includes the design, supply, manufacturing and ex-works delivery.
The plant will have a 5 cubic metre per hour capacity and will treat borehole water to comply with SANS Class 1 drinking water standards. “The local community is dependent on this borehole for its water. However, the water’s quality has been deteriorating and needs to be treated to ensure its suitability for consumption,” says Bernard Cannon, managing director, Malutsa.
The treatment process includes filtration, reverse osmosis, iron removal and lime stabilisation.
The plant will also include a clean-in-place system to assist in the efficient maintenance and operation.
VWS Envig will be providing the design drawings, equipment schedules and complete the procurement, while Malutsa will be responsible for the project management, construction, installation and commissioning.
